Feb 25, 2006 · don knotts, the skinny, lovable nerd who kept generations of television audiences laughing as bumbling deputy barney fife on the andy griffith show, has died. In learning that don knotts passed away, i wanted to write a brief tribute. I had the privilege of seeing don knotts in a play in cincinnati back in 1998 and was fortunate to meet him afterwards.
