Black Men & Faith: Are We Missing The Mark? A Crucial Conversation.

Numerous black church cultures focus on keeping antiquated traditions and programs that miss the mark for black men. Mens ministry in black churches is internalized bible study that gathers inside the church while alienating black men outside the black church boundaries in the black community. In uncomfortable conversations with a black man, emmanuel acho takes on all the questions, large and small, insensitive and taboo, many white americans are afraid to askyet which all americans need the answers to, now more than ever.

In my search for the reasons for the exodus of black men from the church, and to gather an understanding of what some black men are seeking from the church, i used the ethnographic qualitative research methodology with the focus group interview approach. On february 28, ct and seminary now joined together to host a roundtable discussion featuring black evangelical leaders from a variety of vocational ministry settings. We delve into how religious teachings can both provide solace and inadvertently perpetuate. Explore the complex role of faith in shaping black men's emotions.
