Weve been explicitly told that 1a is considered to be an unusually promising class, and thats at least partly because of the villain attack. Yes, they were attached because plot, but the attack made them stronger by providing them with a huge bounty of experience points. Class 1a is flat out boring aside from the main trio and few execptions. Kirishima is over hyped in my opinion.
