I thought it too convenient that they kept the original chimera ants and explicitly discussed their abilities to push a soul into a new body. From a storytelling perspective, ultimate gon appears to be a farewell to his enhancer powers and his jajanken. Him gaining a new nen type could also be a way to show his change of heart, as he's already reached his goal of meeting his father. Gon still doesn't know kite was reborn as a chimera ant, hasn't met gyro. He is aimless now and doesn't seem to desire power again but when one of his friends are in a pinch he would regret becoming powerless.
