Today i received a notice from sears stating that they would lower my credit limit from $4,000, to $2,001 if i don't make purchases equaling $500 by january 31st. As of , the sears mastercard will be renamed the citi thankyou mastercard and all branding and communications will refer to the citi thankyou mastercard including statements, materials and services for your account. It looks like all they're doing is renaming/removing the old sears branded card that earned thank you points and was more or less replaced by the shop your way version of the card which is still being offered and no mention of it changing. Closing your sears card either won't affect your credit if there is no balance on it. You should pay off all cards in full at the end of the month and pay all other bills on time, that's all that really amtters.
