Mymgm Secret: The One Feature Everyone's Ignoring

In september 2023, mgm resorts international, a global leader in hospitality and entertainment, became the target of a sophisticated cyberattack. The attackers, allegedly part of a cybercriminal gang known as scattered spider (also referred to as roasted 0ktapus or unc3944), used social engineering tactics to penetrate mgms defenses. Most identity and access management systems weren't build for that kind of scale.

Okta gives us the ability to go out and say, hey, can we have millions of users and it manage your identity well? We would like to show you a description here but the site wont allow us. Once you have a superadmin access in the mgm's identity provider, it's a free game. Attackers then created a subdomain in okta, which allowed them to impersonate mgm users as well as intercept authentication requests/checks.

Both are features of okta, which have been used maliciously, rather than an oversight in okta design. On my mgm rewards mastercard it says get 3x rewards and points credit on spend at mgm resorts. Does this mean i get 12 points per dollar? There is neither a mgm hr or it phone number/line available. Assuming they fired everyone in it.
