When starting a new game in stardew valley, one of the most pressing questions is what to build first: A silo or a coop? Both structures are essential for a thriving farm, but which one should you prioritize?

Build the silo first in stardew valley. Once you have a silo, any grass that's scythed down has a chance of becoming hay and being automatically placed into the silo. Interacting with the silo just shows it's capacity. Silo supplies are dispensed within the coop/barns, you have to extract from there and place it on the bed/bench inside.

The silo is ideal to get first because then as you cut down grass it automatically converts to animal food and is stored in the silo for easy retrieval inside a coop or barn. Otherwise you have to buy the feed elsewhere and carry it around for placing inside the feed bins, or let your animals out to eat free range grass. I've heard about building the silo first a lot, but not really agree. I prefer to simply build a coop or barn first. The point is that it is only necessary for the winter, as you want to harvest the hay before winter and you do want to ensure animals are fed in winter.
