The big fight is unlike any other, it's probably the funniest arc and the last few episodes of the arc are top tier one piece content. You shouldn't skip it or any other canon arc. If for whatever reason you are not feeling the arc (or any other arc) i'd say give the manga a try instead of skipping it. Thriller bark is my second favorite arc in the series because it was so much fun watching it. All of the strawhats diverse personalities shined the most in this arc in my opinion.
